137 heat-related deaths in Telangana this summer

Synopsis

"The toll has gone to 137 during this season. Maximum 34 deaths were reported (so far) from Medak district," an official from the the state disaster management department said today.

 

Besides Medak, 30 deaths in Mahbubnagar, 26 in Nalgonda, 10 in Rangareddy, 7 in Khammam, 13 in Karimnagar, 9 in Adilabad and 8 deaths in Nizamabad were reported so far, the official added.

 

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is scheduled to hold a review with district collectors tomorrow on the drought conditions.

 

There is a marginal reduction of maximum temperatures in most parts of the state and it is likely to continue tomorrow also, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

 

There is no heat wave warning today. There is one degree Celsius drop in the temperature. It may continue tomorrow also. However, temperatures may go up if the wind pattern changes, IMD-Hyderabad Director Y K Reddy said.

 

Ramagundam and Nizamabad may record maximum temperatures of 43 degrees Celsius, he said.
