In a response to the two-day strike observed by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees on July 25 and 26, the Hassan division has dismissed nine of its employees.
Subrahmanya (driver), Suresh (driver), H.V.Narasimha (driver), Venkatesh (driver), Ganesh (driver), Jayanand Kumar (conductor), Dhananjaya (driver), S.Y.Manjunath (mechanic), and V. Jagadish (driver-cum-conductor) were among the nine employees who were dismissed on charges of negligence that they had been facing earlier. The employees were arrested during the protest and were later released on bail.
The controller of Hassan Transport Depot had dismissed these employees when the workers' association, on Monday, were staging a protest in front of the KSRTC office demanding the cancellation of the dismissal order.
“The government tried to control our protest and now the authorities have dismissed nine of our employees under false allegations. They are threatening other employees who are fighting for the same cause. This is a misuse of power. We will continue our protest till the dismissal order has been cancelled,” said KSRTC Employees Union district president Shivananje Gowda.
Union secretary Range Gowda and union director Rajappa were also present at the protest.
