Expedite trial in Japanese tourist rape case: Sushma Swaraj to Kerala Government

Synopsis

The Japanese tourist was allegedly raped by a Karnataka native The victim was admitted to hospital after she suffered heavy bleeding Police arrested the accused and filed a case against him

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj asked Kerala Government to expedite trial in a case of alleged rape of a Japanese tourist in Kovalam on November 25. She also said the state government has already filed a report with the Centre about the incident. 
 

In a series of tweets, Swaraj said, victim's statement has been recorded and accused apprehended. 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The nurse from Japan’s Kobe city was on a 12-day tour to India and was allegedly raped by a Karnataka native. The 35-year-old was admitted to hospital after she suffered heavy bleeding.

The police arrested the accused, who is running a handicraft shop at Kovalam, and registered a case against him under Section 37 of the Indian Penal Code.
