The abduction of assault of popular Malayalam actress may involve people from film industry besides seven accused identified by police. The name of a prominent actor was also reportedly cropped up in the probe.
After reports that the police questioned an actor at his residence in Aluva, the name of film star Dileep has been dragged into the controversy. However, Dileep lashed out against a section of media for spreading false rumours.
"No one has come to my house, neither from the police or any other agency, for questioning. The news of my involvement in the crime is false. My name is being dragged into this issue to create more controversies," the actor said in his Facebook post.
Some of the media houses had reported that police officials questioned a prominent actor at his house, but did not reveal his name. The investigation has also pointed to the involvement of a top star and that seven-member gang abducted and assaulted the actress at his instance.
A report in DNA claimed that the actor took revenge after the victim, who was extremely close to him and his wife, took her side in a dispute that led to their divorce. The actor then had a bone to pick with her, and she lost several chances, and this forced her to take Kannada and Tamil projects. But later she managed to come back to Malayalam film industry, which allegedly led to the attack.
However, Dileep said it is for the media to name the actor rather than speculating about news of police interrogation.
The actress was abducted and assaulted in a moving car on February 17, on her way from Thrissur to Kochi. The police have so far taken four persons into custody and have intensified the search for prime suspect Pulsar Sunil and his accomplice V P Vigeesh.
