Recently actress-turned-politician Ramya was verbally attacked by people of her constituency for allegedly not addressing to their grievances. On Wednesday, Ramya had visited Mandya and assured farmers that she would support them - if she was provided with police protection.
Such a statement only soured things further. Many protesters in Mandya objected to her statement, stating that such statements were not expected from a people’s representative.
Actor Darshan, who is actively involved in the protest in Mandya, reacted to her statement in an interview with Survana News, claiming that he would not need any protection to mingle with 'his people'.
“This is not my first visit to Mandya, I have come here several times to support the protests and uphold the interests of our farmers. Today I have come here not as an actor but as a farmer. I don’t need any security," the actor said.
He also asked Bengalureans to participate in the bandh, as they also have a huge stake in the Cauvery river.
