Giving out a stern warning to the state police force, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said any anti-people activity from the side of police would not be tolerated by the government.

Addressing the passing out parade of the armed battalion of the police force at Peroorkada CRPF camp, Pinarayi Vijayan said police stations should be more approachable for women and children where they can come and present their grievances fearlessly.

Urging the police force to maintain their physical efficiency throughout their service, Vijayan said the government wants to mould a police force that is more vigilant and corruption-free.

About 555 policemen of special armed battalion took part in the passing out parade.

The chief minister's remarks come at a time when both BJP and the Congress are raising a hue and cry over CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's public speech made in Payyanur openly exhorting party followers to hit back at political rivals.
