While addressing at the 77th conference of Indian Roads Congress (IRC, Union Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the Central government has sanctioned a whopping ₹ 8,000 crores for development of national highways across the state of Telengana.
Gadkari stressed on the fact that roads are needed for the development of a nation. Secondly, it is also needed to tackle the considerable increase in Vehicular traffic. The Union Shipping Minister admitted that environmental, land acquisition and forest clearances were the major concerns while constructing a highway.
Gadkari also said that the length of the national highways across India will be increased from 90,000 km to 2,00,000 km.
The Centre has also said that 1% of the contract’s value will be assigned for the greenery along these newly constructed roads.
