Cauvery future today before Cauvery Monitoring Committee

Meeting convened at Karnataka Bhavan at New Delhi was attended by Karnataka Water Resources Minister M B Patil, Chief Secretary – Arvind Jadhav, Advocate General – Madhusudan Naik and Water Resources department Secretary – Rakesh Singh.
Decision by Monday Afternoon: Crucial Meeting of Cauvery Monitoring Committee headed by Shashishekar, Secretary of Central Water Resources Department is slated to be held Monday afternoon and Karnataka Chief Secretary – Arvind Jadhav, Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary – P Ram Mohan Rao and Central Water Commission Head – G S Jha will participate in the meet.
As per sources of both states –Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, are likely to approach the Supreme Court, in the eventuality of ruling of Monitoring Committee going against them.
Monitoring committee is not over and above the Supreme Court. Hence nothing much can be anticipated from the committee. Directions by the Committee are likely after September 20. – M M Lakshman, Convenor, Cauvery Technical Committee, Mysore.
