In India, if your father is influential, you can get away with anything, including getting a romantic video made with your fiancée in parts of Mysore palace that are forbidden.
BG Nandakumar, now a retired officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) had allegedly arranged for an elaborate photo and video shoot of his son Aditya and Navyatha, his bride-to-be, inside the palace using his bureaucratic clout. According to sources, when the video was shot, she was the secretary of the department of Kannada and culture in the Karnataka government.
The video that surfaced on Facebook recently created a furore. As Asianet Newsable , the palace board, the body responsible for the everyday upkeep of the Mysore palace and Pramoda Devi, the queen of Mysore were zapped by the event.
Nandakumar, his son and the promoter of the photo agency who filmed the offending video had switched off their phones and are unavailable for a comment.
"Being an IAS officer, Nandakumar had good contacts with the palace authorities. The department of Kannada and culture organises the grand Dasara festival in Mysore every year. It is most likely that Nandakumar has used his influence to shoot in the palace premises," said a source.
C Shikha, a deputy commissioner of police in Mysore has ordered a probe into the matter.
