Bipasha Basu joins Bengalureans in Yoga Day celebrations

Synopsis

Bollywood diva Bipasha Basu joined hundreds of Yoga enthusiasts early today at the state-sponsored yoga day celebrations at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

The Bollywood actress was joined by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Union Minister of Law and Justice DV Sadananda Gowda, BJP leader Anand Kumar and Yoga guru Vachanananda.

The event was inaugurated by CM Siddaramaiah at around at 7 am. Among Siddaramiah's cabinet colleagues KJ George, DK Shivakumar, and UT Khader, were seen on the dais.

Yoga guru Vachanananda, who had taken the initiative to organise the function on behalf of the state government, explained why Basu was picked. He said, "Bipasha Basu is also an admirer of yoga and a yoga practitioner."

Picking Bipasha for the occasion has drawn criticism from different quarters. It has been alleged that the government is paying ₹25 lakh to Bipasha.

Last year, it was Shilpa Shetty who made an appearance at the same event.
