SOUTH
Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has started load shedding in the city even before the summer.
Since two weeks many parts of Bengaluru is afflicted due to unscheduled load shedding.
On the one hand, the reservoirs levels are declining and the state is likely to face shortage of water and on the other hand hydro electricity generation is also affected due to shortage of water in reservoirs.
The city requires up to 10,000 mega watts electricity per day. Hence the BESCOM has started cutting power supply since last 10 days in order to conserve power.
BESCOM has started 1-2 hours of load shedding in many areas in Bengaluru viz., KR Puram, HSR layout, Peenya, Mahadevapura, Yelahanka. However the helpline personnel are not revealing the fact, they are giving other excuses to people like line repairs and other justifications.
Even the industrial areas are facing load shedding problem. The production costs will rise if load shedding continues in industrial areas, which will again become a burden on poor common man.
