Bengaluru: Angry mother kicks child to death for crying

Synopsis

Two-year-old son's inconsolable crying drove mother to kick him The post-mortem revealed the cruelty done to the child

On January 9, a man brought his unconscious nephew to a city hospital. The doctors there declared the child dead. It was the post mortem which revealed that the dead infant had sustained major injury to his head, heart and lungs.

When the Ashoknagar Police investigated, they found that the last person the child had interacted with had been his mother. She has been arrested for the brutal murder of her child, according to a report in the Indian Express.

Kasthuri Bai, a worker at a local printing press, was unable to console her crying two-year-old son, Vijay. Irritated and frustrated at her attempts to make him stop crying, Kasthuri, blinded by anger, kicked the boy and banged his head against a wall. Even after that she is alleged to have used a stick to beat him into silence and then she retreated into her kitchen.

The incident happened near MG Garden at the residence of the Arumugam and Kasthuri. Vijay’s father, Arumugam is employed as a labourer at a local construction site. The couple had three sons.

Vijay usually accompanied his siblings to the Printing Press. On that day, however, his elder brother dropped him back home in some time. Meanwhile, Kasthuri had gone looking for him at the press and unable to find him there returned home. When she got home, Vijay was cranky and crying continuously. It was then that the woman took the drastic step.

It was only when Kasthuri's brother came home did they think of medical assistance for the child. But by then it was too late.
