Bengaluru: Prompt police action saves baby, nabs kidnappers

Synopsis

Janaki and Ramu, a couple, worked in tandem to distract a vegetable trader and kidnap her son. Thanks to a timely complaint, the police traced the couple, rescued the child and handed him over to his mother.

Sandhya made a living selling vegetables near ABCD Park at Channammanakere Acchukattu. The couple, Janaki and Ramu, got friendly with Sandhya and her son Elumalai.

The couple lured Sandhya with promises of selling her a sewing machine for an affordable price and coaxed her to get Elumalai along with her.

Janaki, pretending to be a caring friend carried the child. After giving her the machine, Janaki and Ramu convinced Sandhya that there wouldn't be sufficient space and it would be difficult to manage the kid and the machine in one auto.

They sweet talked her into letting them bring her son in another auto and Sandhya, who did not suspect any foul play, agreed.

However, when the couple failed to turn up till 9 pm, Sandhya went to the Ramu's house but was shocked to find the house locked.

She immediately rushed to a police station and filed a complaint.

The police swung into action and flashed the news across the city. Forces discovered the couple with the baby in Kengeri. The couple has been arrested.
