Karnataka minister wants no salary, allowances

Synopsis

Rayareddy, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, considers his work as service and, thus, will not accept remuneration for his work.

He has even refused to accept allowances such as TA, DA and housing expenses.

I have a house in Bengaluru, so how can I take the house rental allowance? I do not even want to take the allowance given for food. If I take all the allowances given by the government, I would be cheating it of Rs 2-3 lakh, Rayareddy was quoted as saying by Deccan herald.

This not the first time the minister has refused to accept benefits. Even as an MLA, he had refused to benefit financially from his job.

At a time when ministers and MLAs lobby and bribe to get posts from which they stand to benefit greatly financially, Rayareddy stands far above the crowd.
