An interim notice in this regard has been issued to District Traders' Association. Following a report that bacteria and pesticides were found in these aerated drinks, the district committee has voluntarily decided to prohibit sale of aerated drinks to children below 18 years, reports Kannada Prabha.
Most of the soft drinks contain high fructose corn syrup, which has come under scrutiny of late. Doctors advise against regular consumption of these soft drinks.
The committee's move has come in for praise by various departments.
