Out of uniform, Anupama Shenoy wages war on social media

Synopsis

The story so far. Popular perception had it that the owner of a liquor warehouse used his political influence to coerce Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shenoy to resign. No one knows where she is now but she liked Asianet Newsable's story that chronicled her achievements on 6 May 2016 so we do believe she is safe.

But it’s not that simple. Shenoy’s acquaintances say that the brave lady cannot be subdued by such a silly dispute as the illegal construction of a single godown. They have revealed that a huge liquor lobby is involved in this resignation.

As per the records, Anupama Shenoy has filed about 16 cases against the liquor lobby and more than 18 of those accused have been prosecuted and imprisoned in a span of 50 days -- between November 2015 and January 2016. She has also raided many illegal unauthorised liquor shops and godowns across Sandur, Kudligi, Hospete and other places. The whole liquor mafia of Kudligi Taluk has conspired against her and made her resign.

Shenoy’s resignation reached DG and IGP Om Prakash’s office on Monday evening. Om Prakash has confirmed that he has received the resignation and said that he’ll forward it to the concerned official in the home ministry.

However, she continues her war against the government on Facebook. In one of her Facebook status messages, she says this about her resignation: “P.T. Parameshwar Naik, I have resigned now. When are you going to resign?” This status makes one infer that P.T. Parameshwar Naik, the Labour Minister, has some influence on this whole matter.

In another of her status messages, she informs, “It is rumoured that an FIR might be registered against me after seeing my Facebook statuses. The post ends with a hashtag #Bruhannaleyaru - meaning transsexuals (Bruhannale is the name of Arjuna in the Mahabharata. He donned the guise of a transgender and hid in Viratnagar for one year).

She is in contact with me and with our family. I believe that PT Parameshwar Naik is responsible for all this. My sister will take back her resignation if the minister resigns. I wish that she’ll remain in the police department: Achuth Kumar, brother of Anupama Shenoy

Recently, the state’s police constables decided to take mass leave as a symbol of protest. A policeman from Mandya, Ramakrishna was dismissed for protesting against the government. Newspapers had carried reports on this dismissal. Anupama Shenoy uploaded a cutout of one of the reports and said Gubbi Mele Brahmastra! (A famous Kannada phrase which means throwing deadly weapon on a sparrow).

Her posts are creating a stir on Facebook, they are receiving thousands of likes.

Two groups on Facebook - DySP Anupama Shenoy Fans Association, Mysore and Nimmondige Naaviddeve #AnupamaShenoy - formed in the last 24 hours are supporting Anupama Shenoy’s war against the government with a growing number of members.
