The first ever Amaravati Global Music and Dance Festival at the confluence of the Krishna-Godavari rivers kick-started on Friday. The serene place will add to the music and the several cultural acts that will be enacted on the stage for the next four days.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has a vision of making the event an annual one. He also wants make the Amravati a global hub for culture, music and art. The event is directed by the famous violin player L Subramanium.
"We didn't want to go the rock route or pop route because there is a difference between a beach front and river front. When you think of the beach, the fun aspect comes to mind, while serenity comes to mind when you talk of a river front. The idea was to mix and match different music and dance genres so that it has a concert feel. The USP is the riverfront," CEO of the E Factor Entertainment, Samit Garg, who is the curator of the event, was quoted as saying by IANS.
The event will be covering a wide range of genres. Audience can experience Indian classical, Western classical music (orchestral), Bollywood, global fusion, folk music, contemporary world music and many more.
Legendary performing artistes like Subramaniam himself, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Hema Malini, Kavita Krishnamurti, Talat Aziz, Anup Jalota, Suresh Wadkar, Trilok Gurtu and Kazakh State Philharmonic Orchestra and several other musicians will enchant the public.
