The Aero India is one of the most spectacular air shows in the world. The 11th Edition of the air show will witness some impressive defence engineering, civil aviation and most advanced aircraft, and the security of Yelahanka Air Force Station has been boosted to ensure that the five-day show faces no disruption.
To prevent this from happening, the BBMP has asked around 300 meat shops near the Yelahanka Air Base to shut their shops temporarily. The civic body has directed its officials to keep a sharp eye on these shops and ensure that none of them is opened unless the five-day long show ends on February 18.
This authority has also instructed hotels and restaurants located nearby the base to serve only vegetarian food during Aero India 2017. The penalty charge for violation of this order is up to ₹2000 and BBMP will seize meat as well as other materials of the shops, the Times of India report quoted Dr V Ramesh, assistant director of Animal Husbandry, BBMP as saying.
When asked about the residents living nearby the Yelahanka base cooking meat in their homes, Dr Ramesh said, “Some residents may get meat from other zones and cook. We have no control over that. But we have ensured that our pourakarmikas collect the waste daily and dispose of it properly." BBMP is also taking various other measures like spraying disinfectants on dumps etc. to make sure that birds are kept away from the air base.
