
Following large-scale protests against the Supreme Court’s order to continue to release water to Tamil Nadu, protesters torched 14 lorries in Bengaluru, turning the situation in the city into an ugly scene.
Out of the 14 lorries charred by the protesters, five each was found on Nayandalli and Mysusu Road and four trucks were found on the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) Road.
A newly brought Skoda car was also set ablaze by the protesters at Nayandalli.
The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation has stopped its bus services in several areas in the city. The city Metro rail service was also halted.
Vehicular movement in South Bengaluru, including Mysuru Road, Nayandalli, Banashankari, Hosakerehalli Padmanabhanagar, Jayanagar, Kanakapura Road nearly came to a halt as protesters were seen pelting stones on the moving vehicles.
Across the city, an estimated 27 vehicles have been reported as damaged. Police have detained over 200 protestors.
The Karnataka State Transport Corporation have also cancelled over 600 buses, mostly those intended for Tamil Nadu, leading to a ₹96 lakh loss in revenue.
