After failure to curb stray dog menace, Bengaluru mayor announces Rs 5 lakh compensation to victim's family

Following the death of 11-year-old Praveen, who was mauled by stray dogs in Bengaluru, city's mayor Sampath Raj visited the grieving family and announced Rs 5 lakh compensation. He also warned officials for failure in solid waste management and animal birth control programme after citizens raised a complaint. Mayor said a team will be formed to keep a check on stray dog menace. Praveen, 11-year-old boy, was playing with his friends near the Vibhuthipura lake, Bengaluru, on Wednesday and a pack of stray dogs mauled him. He was rushed to Manipal hospital for treatment. However, the boy succumbed to injuries on Saturday.
