After Amazon and Flipkart, Snapdeal launches new premium service

Responding to its biggest rivals Amazon and Flipkart, e-commerce company Snapdeal on Monday announced the launch of its premium services called Snapdeal Gold said a report in India Today. If a user subscribes to the Gold, the company will provide services like free shipping, free upgrade to next-day-delivery and extended purchase protection.

In a way, the Snapdeal Gold is similar to the Amazon Prime and Flipkart First. However, unlike the Amazon Prime and Flipkart First that requires to pay nearly Rs 500 for its membership, Snapdeal Gold is free service upgrade.

The company states that the service is available anytime a user pays for the purchase through Net Banking, Credit/Debit card, EMI or wallet at the time of booking the order. This means only the cash-on-delivery orders won't be eligible for it. All other orders will be.

"Snapdeal Gold has been designed to fulfil (user) needs. The most important thing is that there is NO catch and NO membership fee - anytime you use your credit/debit card, netbanking, EMI or wallet for payment, we automatically upgrade your order to Snapdeal Gold,"  said Rohit Bansal, co-founder of Snapdeal.

This is not the first time Snapdeal has made efforts to improve its service as well as offer consumers a bit of extra in terms of delivery and aftersales service. The company recently also rolled out its next-day delivery service across 104 Indian cities, including smaller cities like Chitradurga, Ongole, Rudrapur and Shimoga. The company claims that the under this service , orders will be delivered to the buyers the very next day of ordering.
