Two 11-year-old boys from Telangana are being flown to Abu Dhabi to help the authorities identify the remains of their fathers.
The bodies of four Indian nationals, who died in a fire, has been at the local morgue for the last four months as the authorities were unable to identify them.
"The bodies have to be DNA identified before they can be repatriated. As the victims do not have close relatives, we have to bring family members to Abu Dhabi for identification," an Abu Dhabi embassy official told Khaleej Times.
A total of five men died in a fire at their camp in Reem Island, Abu Dhabi, on October 19. The body of only one victim - Pitla Naresh - was identified by relatives in the UAE last month, and repatriated to India.
Thota Rajesh and Malavath Akhil will have to give their DNA samples to be matched with their fathers' whose bodies were charred beyond recognition.
"Our efforts have paid off. The Telangana government has issued passports to family members, and two days ago, we received the passport copies. Now it is just a matter of time before they can travel to Abu Dhabi," added the official.
