Indian man’s body stuck in Sharjah morgue as wife cannot pay hospital bill

Synopsis

Dominic fell ill on December 26, 2016 and he was rushed to the hospital. He was diagnosed with jaundice, liver failure and pneumonia, all at the same time.

When India was celebrating its 68th Republic Day on Thursday, an Indian woman with three daughters was kept waiting at a Sharjah hospital to claim her husband’s body. Marilyn Stanislaus lost her husband on January 18, 2017. They have been only waiting for the hospital to release Dominic’s (her husband) body so that they can cremate him at St. Michael’s Church in Sharjah.

"For the past one week I have been trying to get his body released from the hospital," Marilyn told Khaleej Times.

Apparently, Marilyn has to pay 30,000 dirhams to claim his body. However, the total bill was Dh 1,00,000 but it was brought down to Dh 50,000 because Dominic’s health card was still valid.

Dominic fell ill on December 26, 2016 and he was rushed to the hospital. He was diagnosed with jaundice, liver failure and pneumonia, all at the same time.

The body is still in the hospital morgue and the family has been trying to get Dominic’s body desperately. They have been seeking help from friends, family and relatives but nothing seem to have worked for them.
