Senior Kerala journalist Sajeev Gopalan was allegedly assaulted by some policemen in Varkala on Sunday night.
An SI and two local policemen reportedly barged into Sajeev's residence before beating him up and stripping him naked. It was only after his daughter started crying, that the police left the place.
Sajeev, 49, works with the Kerala Kaumudi newspaper. He was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital with injuries to his neck and hands. An investigation into the incident is underway.
Sajeev's wife said that he had recently published a story on the abduction of two women, exposing the local police who filed a report in favour of the accused. The attack on him is understood to be a retaliation.
"Two police officials hit me on my neck, kicked and stripped me. A sub-inspector also joined them in the assault. All this happened at my home in front of my wife and 15-year-old daughter. I heard them mention the story as they beat me," an NDTV report quoted Sajeev as saying.
Sajeev has registered a complaint with the CI, while the Kaumudi office has filed a complaint with the DGP.
