The government has failed to deal with the Monsoon havoc, says Opp Leader Ramesh Chenithala

Synopsis

"The government did not help the disaster-affected districts and there was no food available in the relief camps as well."

Opposition leader Ramesh Chenithala said in the Kerala State Assembly that the government has failed to deal with monsoon disaster and the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA)  has itself become a disaster.

He continued by saying that the KSDMA took four hours from Thrissur to Kozhikode and the reasons for landslides in Kozhikode are the illegal check dams that were under construction.

Chenithala told the government's apathy towards the issue made things worse. Speaking in the assembly, he said the disaster management should have been prepared for the monsoons.

The northern states in Kerala face extreme difficulty during the monsoon season. Chenithala said, "The government did not help the disaster-affected districts and there was no food available in the relief camps as well." He continued by saying that all of this shows the discrimination of the government. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said he will arrange a five-member team to investigate the matter.
