4-year-old Saudi boy dies in Kumarakom resort's pool, probe ordered

A four-year-old boy, who is a Saudi Arabia national, died in a swimming pool at a private resort in Kumarakom on Thursday.

Majeed Adil Ibrahim was touring Kerala along with his family, when tragedy struck them at the famed tourist destination. "The incident occurred on late Thursday evening. The real cause of the death is being probed," IANS quoted a police officer as saying.

The boy's father has alleged that there was an electricity leakage in the pool and that might have caused the death. Those who jumped into the pool to rescue the boy also got electric shocks, according to reports.

The Kumarakom police has registered a case for unnatural death and started a probe. The boy's body has been shifted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital. The police said further procedures would be taken after examining the post-mortem report. 

The boy was in a baby pool and his father was at the pool for adults when the incident occurred.
