A female nurse from Kerala, who was working with a hospital in Delhi, has attempted suicide after her employers served her a termination notice. 

The nurse, hailing from Alappuzha, took the extreme step on Friday night after being sacked by the ILBS hospital, and was found lying in the bathroom with her wrists slit.

The woman has been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). She is out of danger and understood to be stable.

The nurse has been working at the ILBS hospital in Vasant Kunj on contract basis for the last five years. She was handed the termination notice on Friday.

Meanwhile, several nurses at the hospital staged protests on Saturday, demanding the management to take her back. 

Earlier, the hospital had reportedly sacked close to 20 nurses without giving a proper explanation. The nurses had filed a complaint with the Delhi Chief Minister regarding the working conditions at the hospital.
