A Malayalee woman was found brutally murdered at her residence in Pune on Saturday, in what is suspected to be a robbery attempt.

The victim has been identified as Radha Madhavan Nair, 65, who hails from Changanassery. The elderly woman, who was living alone at her apartment in Vishrantwadi, was stabbed in the neck. Her gold ornaments and other valuables in the house were found missing.

Radha's children, who also live in the city, found her body in a pool of blood on Saturday night. They decided to check on her after repeated calls to her phone went unanswered during the day.

The police suspect the assailant knew the victim and that she was living alone. The investigation team said they are awaiting the post-mortem results.
