A woman has been admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital with serious internal injuries after her husband forced her to drink acid.

The 22-year-old woman, a native of Vellamunda in Wayanad, was allegedly forced to do drink a chemical substance by her husband at his house on Tuesday, according reports.

It is understood that the acid-like liquid has severely damaged the woman's mouth, stomach and a major portion of the gullet. Her condition remains critical.

The police have recorded the dying declaration but have stated that the woman's family is yet to file a police complaint.

“The dying declaration of the patient was recorded on Tuesday. Other details cannot be revealed as we are yet to receive an official complaint," reports quoted Medical College station SI A Habeebulla as saying.
