Joy was found hanging outside the Chembanoda village office last Thursday morning after his attempts to remit tax for 80 cents of land owned by his wife were blocked by officials for one reason or the other for the past one-and-a-half years.

Sileesh and village officer KA Sunny were suspended by the collector on June 22 following a public outrage over the incident.
