
Some dramatic moments unravelled at the Kottayam Press Club on Thursday after a man, who was attending a press conference, claimed that he has witnessed a murder.
MK Sibi, who hails from Vaikom, was taken into police custody at the press club after he revealed that he witnessed a gang of criminals murdering a man near Coimbatore 20 years ago.
Sibi and two others had called the press conference to raise awareness about the presence of a drug and flesh trade racket in the district. Midway through the presser, Sibi made the shocking revelation that the gang killed a watch seller in Ukkadam near Coimbatore and that he was ready to testify before a court.
A police team led by Circle Inspector Nirmal Bose soon arrived at the press club and arrested Sibi. However, the police found contradictions in his statements during interrogation and let him off on bail
During the press conference, Sibi also claimed that a racket has been operating in Vaikom, providing drugs to men and luring women into sex trade. He said he was once part of the gang and has witnessed many of their cruel acts. He said he is even ready to turn an approver.
