The Kollam traffic police took a female doctor into custody on Tuesday night for injuring three persons and damaging as many as six vehicles while driving in an inebriated state.
Dr Reshmi Pillai, working with a private hospital in the city, lost control of her luxury car and rammed into several other vehicles, injuring three passengers. The incident took place near the Madannada junction under the Kollam East police station limits at around 7 pm.
Reshmi is a dentist who is associated with the Azeezia Medical College. Traffic police officers said that she will be booked for both drunken driving and rash driving. The police also recovered four liquor bottles from her car.
Besides causing the accident, the woman and her friends also tried to assault some locals, who tried to stop her vehicle, and mediapersons, who rushed to the spot to cover the incident.
Later, when she was asked to come to the hospital for medical examination, Reshmi entered into a verbal dual with the police personnel and also tried to manhandle them.
