Husband wanted to send wife to Syria, High Court comes to her rescue

Synopsis

A girl from Kannur told court that her husband is planning to send her to Syria Court ordered DGP to probe the matter and file a report and to provide protection to family The girl appeared in court and said that her family is facing threat from some radical organisation

Kerala High Court has asked State Police Chief to look into a complaint filed by a Kannur native that her husband is trying to send her to Yemen or Syria. 

The court also quashed a search warrant issued by the lower court based on husband's complaint that the girl was held captive by her parents. The court also sought a report from the DGP stating that the issue is severe. 

The girl, who converted to another religion and got married returned home as she was afraid that her husband is planning to send her abroad. Her parents also said that they are facing threats from a radical organisation.

The organisation started threatening the girl and her parents after she returned home. The court ordered police to protect the girl and her parents until further orders. 

The girl told the court that she got information about plans to send her to Syria from a prominent communal organisation. She also said that the decision was communicated to her in writing. The girl from Mandur in Kannur appeared in the court in person to explain his case.

On getting a message from the girl, her father filed a case following which police traced her and produced before the court. She told the court that she wants to go with her parents and does not want to go back to his husband. 

Following this husband approached lower court saying that his wife was being held captive by her parents and the court issued a search warrant. At this stage, the girl and her parents moved High Court and sought relief. The court will consider the case on August 25.
