Synopsis

Hadiya's father Ashokan said the state government is taking a wrong stance in Hadiya case  Ashokan asked why the state is opposing the investigation by the National Investigation Agency He also questioned the Women's Commission which approached Supreme Court

Hadiya's father, Ashokan, has come up against Kerala government after the state informed the court that NIA probe is not needed in the case. Ashokan asked why the state is opposing the investigation by the National Investigation Agency.

He also questioned the Women's Commission, which approached Supreme Court citing human rights violation in Hadiya case. "It is not only my daughter who is involved in such a situation. Several youths went missing from Kerala. There is no information about their whereabouts," he said.

It is suspected that almost 22 youths, who went missing from Kerala, has joined Islamic State. However, the government never interfered in the case and instead kept silence all the while.

"How can the government say that no such issues are prevailing in Kerala and state that there is no need for an NIA probe," he said.

He also said the state government is taking a wrong stance in Hadiya case and other similar issues. The government should remember that it is for every citizen, but it did not show justice to me, Ashokan told Asianet News.

He also alleged that the government is not understanding him. "I am a father, and the government should understand my mental state. Several leaders, including those from the Left Front, have criticised me. They are making a statement without understanding my situation. Did I commit any offence? Did I commit a mistake by moving court on knowing that my daughter is likely to be taken to Syria? Should I have allowed her to go to Syria like Nimisha, the girl from Attingal, did," he asked.
