In a shocking incident, a group of people brutally beat up a man at Taliparamba in Kannur for allegedly stealing a mobile phone on Sunday. Ironically, the attack happened after the police found the man innocent and allowed him to leave.
The video of the crying man, being assaulted and dragged away, has been widely shared on social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp. The group is seen kicking and hitting him in the video as he shouts for help and passersby watch on.
The police arrested one of the assailants after the video was brought to their notice. However, they are yet to trace the victim. The police claims they can file a case against the perpetrators only on the victim's complaint.
The Taliparamaba police had taken the victim into custody on Sunday morning after he was accused of stealing a phone from a mobile store. However, the cops let him walk free after inquiries proved that he was innocent and was caught up in a misunderstanding.
