Nearly 700 gms of gold powder worth ₹26 lakh was seized from a passenger who arrived here on Monday by an Air Arabia flight, airport sources said.
The customs officials intercepted the passenger hailing from Kerala after he was seen moving in a suspicious manner at the international airport in Coimbatore around 4.30 AM.
On verification, the gold powder worth ₹26.34 lakh was found concealed in a fake bandage on both his legs. Officials are yet to ascertain the exact quantity of the gold powder, Airport sources said.
The gold was meant to be sold in Kerala market with a profit margin, they said.
