Father Tom Uzhunnalil to visit Kerala in two weeks

Father Tom Uzhunnalil will visit his home town in Kerala in two weeks September 27 and 28 are considered the most suitable dates for his visit Salesian Congregation and the family of the priest will give a warm welcome to him

Father Tom Uzhunnalil, who was released from Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist outfit after 18 months captivity, will visit Indian in two weeks. Father George Muttathuparambil, the spokesperson of Salesian Congregation, confirmed the reports and said that the final date had not been fixed yet. 

"We have proposed September 27 and 28 as the most suitable dates. However, he will visit India within two weeks," Muttathuparambil said.

The family of the Uzhunnalil and Salesian Congregation are planning a warm welcome for the priest during his visit to Kerala. Uzhunnalil Kudumba Yogam, the family members and relatives of the priest, has planned a reception for the priest at Ramapuram.

The report was confirmed by Navitha Elizabeth Jose, who received the first phone call from Father Uzhunnalil after his release from terrorist custody confirmed the reports. "He will first come to New Delhi and from there to Bengaluru. Then he will visit his home place at Ramapuram. Right now the priest is taking rest at the press office of Salesian Congregation in Vatican.

The ISIS had abducted the Kerala priest during a raid on an old-age home in Aden, Yemen, run by Missionaries of Charity, on March 4, 2016. Uzhunnalil belongs to Ramapuram village in Kottayam district in Kerala.
