In a shocking incident, an elderly couple was found brutally murdered at their residence in Palakkad on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Poolkkalparambil Swaminathan (72) and wife Premakumari (62). Swaminathan was reportedly found lying in a pool of blood with his throat slit, while Premakumari is understood to have been strangulated.
The murder took place at their house in Tholanur, which comes under the Alathur police station limits. It was the neighbours found the bodies on Wednesday morning and informed the police.
The couple's two sons were away at the time of the murders. Reports claim that one of the daughter-in-law's was at the house and has been hospitalised with injuries suffered in the attack by the perpetrators.
Swaminathan had filed a complaint with the police a week ago, saying that he has been receiving death threats. Locals allege that the cops didn't investigate the matter with due seriousness.
