In a major development in the Kochi actress attack case, an accused has given a confessional statement against Dileep, claiming the actor was involved in the incident.

Charlie, the seventh accused in the case, stated before a magistrate that Dileep gave the 'quotation' to assault the actress and record the visuals. Prime accused Pulsar Suni had stayed at Charlie's house in Coimbatore after he had went into hiding, following the abduction and attack on the actress on February 17, reports Asianet News.

Charlie said that two days after the attack, Suni told him Dileep gave him the quotation for Rs 1.5 crore. He also confessed that Suni showed him video clips of the assault on his phone, according to reports. He is expected to turn an approver after his confession. 

The Kerala High Court had granted bail to Dileep on Tuesday, 85 days after he was arrested on charges of conspiracy in the actress attack case. Justice Sunil Thomas imposed stringent conditions while granting bail to 49-year-old Dileep and said he should not tamper with evidence.

Dileep should surrender his passport, deposit a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh and two solvent sureties for the like amount besides appear before investigating officers as and when required, the court said. It also said he should not influence or threaten the victim or witness by any means including words expressed through print and electronic media.
