Kerala tipplers, take note: Double check for the dead cockroach in your bottle

Synopsis

Two Shoranur natives bought a bottle from an outlet in Ottappalam and found a dead cockroach in it A company representative offered them up to Rs 5,000 as compensation to hush up the matter The two decided not to accept the amount and are now preparing to move the consumer court

Two Kerala tipplers found a dead cockroach in a sealed liquor bottle bought from a Bevco outlet in Palakkad on Wednesday.

In what has been an unpleasant shopping experience to say the least, two Shoranur natives picked up a bottle of daily dose from a liquor outlet in Ottappalam. However, on close inspection they noticed a dead cockroach inside the bottle, much to their shock... obviously.

Our duo then rang up a phone number found on the bottle’s wrap, following which a representative of the liquor brand visited them in person, according to a Mathrubhumi report.

The company representative reportedly apologised for the incident, which  was caused due to a "human error" during the manufacturing/bottling process. He also offered the two up to Rs 5,000 as compensation to hush up the matter.

However, being the good Samaritans and law-abiding citizens our tipplers are, they did not accept the amount and are now preparing to move the consumer court instead.
