Advocate C P Udayabhanu, who was the special public prosecutor in controversial Chandrabose murder case, has landed in trouble after he has been accused of plotting the murder of a real estate broker in Chalakudy. The police have found evidence to establish his links with the case and the victim.
The body of Rajeev, a real estate dealer, was found from an abandoned building on October 29. The police arrested four suspects who spilled the beans on the crime. The arrested told police that they strangled and killed Rajeev on the basis of directions from advocate Udayabhanu following an altercation between them related to a property deal.

Further, three months ago the victim had complained to state police chief citing death threats from the lawyer and another real estate broker C O Johny. Rajeev had in his complaint written that the lawyer had entered into various deals to buy properties to evade income tax. However, he failed to fulfil the conditions in most deals, and it created enormous problems for me. Now he is trying to implicate me in cases, and I am living under threat from him, Rajeev had written in his complaint.
On investigation, it was found that the arrested persons had a connection with the advocate. The CCTV footage accessed by the police proves that Udayabhanu had on several occasions visited Rajeev at his house. It is believed that the duo had a cordial relationship which later turned out to be bitter following some disputes over a property deal. However, the officials are looking for scientific proof to establish the link between the lawyer and the victim.
