In a shocking incident, CCTV visuals recently obtained by the police show a man was brutally assaulted by two goons in broad daylight in Thiruvananthapuram earlier this month.
In the footage dated September 13, the bike-borne assailants, now identified as Ananthu and Sreekuttan, can be seen punching and kicking a man named Sudheer in the middle of the road at Chirayinkeezhu, with several passersby watching on indifferently.
The visuals show the brutal attack started over an argument. It is understood that Sudheer was beaten up for questioning the assailants for performing bike stunts on the road, causing a traffic jam.
Sudheer is seen collapsing on the road after the attack while several people, including the man who was riding pillion with Sudheer, stand there as spectators. The footage, captured on a shop's CCTV, is being circulated widely on social media platforms.
Though no complaint has been lodged by the victim yet, rural SP Ashok Kumar said a suo motto case has been registered and the accused will be arrested soon. He has asked the Attingal CI to give a detailed report of the incident.
In February 2016, a youth was beaten to death by a gang in a similar attack which happened near Vakkom in Thiruvananthapuram.
