Ambalappuzha: An Onam celebration at a medical college in Alappuzha turned tragic after a 55-year-old hospital employee suddenly collapsed during the festivities and later died.The deceased has been identified as Dass Baby, a resident of Veliyakathu House in Kanjiramchira, Alappuzha. He was working as a part-time employee at Vandanam Government TD Medical College.The incident took place at around 5:30 pm while the college's Onam celebrations were underway. Dass Baby was reportedly participating in the festivities when he suddenly collapsed at the venue, leaving those around him shocked.

His colleagues immediately rushed him to Vandanam Medical College Hospital for emergency treatment. However, despite their efforts, he could not be saved. Doctors subsequently declared him dead.The sudden death cast a pall of gloom over the Onam celebrations, with colleagues and others at the college mourning the loss.
