The biggest question in the minds of Bengalureans is, will there be a bandh on February 4? The answer is might be that too, an illegal bandh is likely to be observed on the day. Confused?

Pro-Kannada organisations are hell-bent on observing the bandh, demanding 7.56 TMC water from Goa and PM Narendra Modi's intervention in the issue, as the BJP government in Goa has refused to meet Karnataka's demands.

Kannada Chaluvali Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj, who is supposed to lead the bandh, has said that if PM Modi agrees to intervene between Karnataka and Goa for Mahadayi water, the call for bandh with be withdrawn.

This is not likely to happen as BJP leader Yeddyurappa has clarified that PM Modi will not address the Mahadayi issue in the Parivarthan Yatra scheduled on February 4 in Karnataka.

As informed earlier, still the bandh call will be illegal as according to the Supreme Court direction, the Mahadayi issue is with the water board as observing a bandh is not allowed. Hearing a PIL, the Karnataka High Court has stated that the bandh is illegal. Moreover, the Karnataka government has also said that they have not given any permission to hold the Bengaluru bandh. The court has orderred action against those who will observe a bandh and inconvenience the public.

So, will there be a bandh? Or will February 4 be another day of violence and destruction, not moving even an inch closer to convincing Goa of the need for drinking water to the people of North Karnataka?
