Fake news spreads dangerous rumour about BJP's minority wing leader Mutt visit

Synopsis

A facebook post criticising BJP minority wing leader Rahim Uchchil's visit to the famous Siddharaoodha Mutt has gone viral William Pinto of Mangaluru has commented that Rahim has been appointed as the priest at the mutt - a fake news that angered many Rahim has now lodged a complaint in Hubballi against Pinto

A Facebook post with a communally insensitive comment on BJP minority morcha vice president Rahim Uchil's visit to the popular Siddharoodha Mutt in Hubballi has now come under the police scanner.

Rahim Uchila who was in Hubballi as the party's 'Vistarak' had paid a visit to the Siddharoodha Mutt. But, a facebook user William Pinto, a native of Mangaluru, had posted photo of Rahim's visit to the mutt and commented that Rahim has been appointed the mutt's priest "Sri Sri Rahim Poojary."

Taking serious objection to the potentially communally insensitive post, Rahim lodged a complaint with the Hubballi police against William Pinto, who works in Dubai. The police are expected to arrest Pinto, soon.

Speaking to Suvarna News, Rahim said that no one has the right to comment on what he does. "My religion has taught me to respect other religions too. But this can't be digested by some who seems to have taken the contract to guard the religion all by themselves. I respect Siddharoodha Mutt, and I have no regret visiting there." He hoped that Hubballi police would take stern action against Pinto who has created this post.

Mutt's official, Mahendra Singh said that those who are aware of the mutt's history will not dare to comment like this. "The mutt is considered the Advaitha Kashi of this region and the mutt has always been the symbol of secularism," Singh told Suvarna News.

While a few have appreciated Rahim's gesture, many have strongly commented on it. One of the comments said this is absolutely UnIslamic and the religion does not approve of it. After Dakshina Kannada region witnessed sporadic communal clashes, the police have taken this case very serious. It may be recalled here that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had asked the police to be stern with those who try to disturb peace in the region.
