Thousands of techies travelling between Yeshwanthpur and Hosur daily by train face torturous delays. The track being single the trains arrive hours late daily making it frustrating for commuters. For decades there is a demand to convert the 61.1 km stretch into doubling but to no result.
All Express trains do not stop here and hence these techies are forced to take the passenger, demo trains only. These trains are halted at every station allowing other Express trains to pass, hence it takes over 2 hours to cover a distance of 61 km.
Earlier there were no takers for these passenger trains. However, with the development of Electronic City commuters increased and the daily traffic is heavy. Though one Garib rath, 7 mail and Express Trains, 2 passenger, 2 super fast and 2 demo trains run in this route they do not stop here and hence commuters have to depend on this one passenger train.
There is an estimated 8 lakh vehicles commuting on road between Sarjapura Road, Whitefield and Electronic City. An efficient train service would reduce this density in road traffic. The Urban Experts are contemplating introducing some more traisn would ease the traffic. Also the old signalling should be replaced with autsignalling to facilitate smooth running of trains. It is in this view that the sub-urban trains will be of at most useful to commuters.
