
A short while ago a report emerged that accused a North Indian owner of a private company in Bengaluru's Sanjay Nagar of abusing a staff member when asked to speak in Kannada. Now another similar report has surfaced in Central Mall, Bellandur. According to a report in Kannada Prabha, a staffer in Central Mall, Bellandur, reportedly asked a woman techie to not purchase anything from a shop if she could not understand Hindi.
As per Lakshmi's Facebook post, she had gone to Central Mall in Bellandur and decided to stop in a shop. The staffer in the shop spoke only Hindi. Lakshmi stated that she asked the staffer to either speak in Kannada or in English, as Lakshmi did not speak Hindi.
Lakshmi claims the staffer replied rudely, asking her to speak to in Hindi if she wanted to buy anything. Lakshmi stated that she went to the Help Desk inn the mall and reported the incident. But the officer at the Help Desk told her that since the staffer did not know any other language but Hindi, Lakshmi should also speak in Hindi. Lakshmi said that she was recording his response on her mobile, but the officer tried to snatch the phone.
She said she managed to get out and then posted her ordeal on her Facebook page. No complaint has been registered in this regard, clarified inspector Victor Simon of Belandur police station, reported Kannada Prabha.
