Techie arrested for creating fake twitter account in CM Siddaramaiah’s name

Synopsis

A techie created a twitter account in CM’s name and tweeted absurd comments. CM’s media advisor lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police about a fake twitter account. The police asked the twitter company to provide information about the account holder. Following investigation, one Madhusudhan was arrested, who confessed to the crime.

The Cyber Crime Division of CID arrested, on Friday, a techie from Mandya for opening a fake account in the name of Chief Minister @cmofkarnataka and posting absurd comments.

One Madhusudhan resident of Adugodi, hailing from Mandya, had created a fake account @cmofkarnataka in 2016 December and posted absurd comments like “I am a socialist but I wear a Hublot” “I like to sleep” etc.  CM’s media advisor Dinesh Amin Mattu had taken it seriously and lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police at CID.

After the complaint was lodged the account was nonoperative for 5 days but again an account @nanegaddappa was opened and such remarks about CM continued.  A team headed by DySP M D Sharath took up investigation and wrote to the twitter company to reveal information about the account holder.

Repeated e mails revealed no results and finally the CCP issued a notice to the twitter company, instructing to attend an inquiry. Alerted by this, the company provided two email IDs that Madhusudhan used to open the accounts. Following that the CID police located and arrested Madhusudhan.

During interrogation he confessed that he had opened to fake account for fun and that he had no backing of any politician or anybody else, reported Kannada Prabha.
