
In a major development, the Supreme Court has approved inquiry into the allegations made against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in the land denotification scam, reported Kannada Prabha.
Along with the application of social activist Sirajin Basha, the State Government has also submitted an application and the Supreme Court will jointly inquire into both the applications. The High Court had dismissed the application filed against B S Yeddyurappa regarding land denotification during his tenure as chief minister. The State Government was preparing to appeal to the Supreme Court in this regard. The Supreme Court will now be inquiring into the applications of Sirajin Basha, Balaraj and the State Government.
The State Government had appealed to the Supreme Court questioning the High Court dismissing of all 15 cases filed against B S Yeddyurappa in the land denotification. The 2 applications filed by State Government and advocate Sirajin Basha will be inquired by a 2 judge bench headed by Justice Chalameshwara. The SC has posted the hearing after 8 weeks. The State Government’s counsel will be senior lawyer and former Union Minister Kalil Sibal.
