
A government order will be issued on Wednesday to release the backlog of the revised wages to the contract Pourakarmikas, announced the Bengaluru Urban Development Minister K J George.
He was speaking at the inauguration of twin bin fitting programme near the national market shopping complex at Gandhinagar on Monday. The State Government had issued a government order enhancing the wages of contract labourers from Rs 7000 to Rs 14000. Talks are already held with the Social Welfare Department and the City Urban Development Department Ministers and the funds will be released shortly, he said.
The garbage waste that is being dumped into the quarry is being carried out in a scientific manner. The quarries, after fill up, will be developed into parks and playgrounds. There are complaints of stink from the garbage disposal sites and it will be resolved with the help of the Agriculture Department, he said.
Mayor G Padmavathi spoke on the occasion and said under the CM’s City Improvement Scheme Rs 4.15 crore subsidy has been sanctioned to fit 2234 twin bins at commercial complexes, markets, slums, major roads and pedestrian crossings. She instructed all shop keepers to segregate dry and wet wastes. After the morning clearing the waste should not be disposed on the roads, she said.
MLA Dinesh Gundurao, who arrived late, took the officials to task for not informing him about the minister’s arrival. Then he apologised for his late arrival.
Deputy Mayor M Anand, BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad, ruling party leader Mohammad Rizwan were present.
